Seva Mela 2008 was inaugurated by Dr Poongothai, Minister of Social Welfare Tamil Nadu on 15th of March at Valluvar Kottam. More than 100 NGOs took stalls and participated in the exhibition.Cultural, competitions for children were held as part of the seva mela.

Earlier in the day, CIOSA and Loyola outreach department held a "Walk Back to life" rally to highlight drug abuse and to reclaim lives. More than 300 students participated in this.
